At the 2016 Task Force ZERO Safety Conference, hosted by Oil Gas Denmark this April, Hess Asset Director for Denmark Anders Nymann joined a panel of business leaders for an open dialogue on employee safety and the importance of industry alignment, particularly in the current low oil price environment.
“Safety, like Lean, is the relentless pursuit of perfection,” Nymann said. “It starts with making protecting the environment and the health and safety of everyone connected with operations the top priority.”
Nymann joined leaders from DONG Oil & Gas, Maersk Oil and Wintershall Noordzee B.V. to discuss safety and key principles of safety leadership.
According to Nymann, Lean has helped move Hess into the top quartile within the oil & gas industry for safety performance. “In 2015, Hess reduced dropped objects by 60 percent, improved our high potential incident rate by 43 percent and reduced our total recordable injury rate (TRIR) by 10 worldwide,” stated Nymann.

Nymann is Hess Corporation’s Asset Director for Denmark. He joined Hess in 2008 as Operation Superintendent, South Arne where he was responsible for field operations, including offshore operations, onshore support, well operations and facilities modifications. In 2011, he was promoted to Country Manager and assumed his current title two years later. Nymann holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark.
